PA Movies on Hulu

If you're looking to get a fix of post apocalyptic movies for free Hulu is a great place to check out. Below are the ones I found that met my criteria.

Blue Gender: The Warrior 2004 - Animation and Cartoons

Blue Gender: The Warrior is a condensed version of a much longer anime series. Anime connoisseurs would most likely disagree but despite being obviously being pieced together I enjoyed this one. The only aspect I honestly disliked and was frustrated with was there was no ending to speak of, as far as the original show I do not know if it was concluded properly. B

In the future, mankind is driven from Earth by monstrous, insect-like creatures known only as the Blue. After 22 years in suspended animation, Yuji Kaido awakens to a nightmarish reality where the survival of all humanity rests in his hands.
Dead Genesis 2011 - Horror and Suspense

A zombie movie with a great concept of following around a group of zombie hunters but poor execution. I felt like someone had a lot of ideas for situations to put humans and zombies in but not a story to bring it all together. C

The War on Dead as viewed through the eyes of a documentarian who travels with a rag tag hunting pack, called "The Deadheads" that seek out hordes of the flesh eating undead. Seven months have passed since the dead took over. Many cities and states have been abandoned and left to die. Several self sufficient hunting groups have been established to take on the threat in a war aptly referred to as the 'War on Dead'. Jillian Hurst, a former news writer and amateur documentarian, has set out to make a pro-war propaganda film to support the W.O.D. She joins up with a pack of renegade hunters known infamously to North America as 'the deadheads'.
Godkiller 2010 - Animation and Cartoons

Godkiller is the first part of a very stylized animation series. It is not so much animation as it is still images panning and zooming. I enjoyed this one for the shear bizarreness but I honestly had no idea what the situation was. The synopsis says aliens invaded and that humans need blood but none of this was shown or explained nor did the aliens have any presence in the story. It is still recommened. B-

Even in a postapocalyptic future in which Earth has been colonized by aliens, humans need hearts to live, so when an orphan boy's sister needs a new one, he'll go to just about any length to get it in this "illustrated film" from Matt Pizzolo. The first in a three-episode series based on the director's comic book of the same name, the film mixes original artwork from the comic with elements of anime, radio drama and video games.
Night of the Living Dead 1968 - Horror and Suspense

What can be said about this zomibe classic? This first part in Romeros Dead series it deals with a group of people stuck in a farm house while defending against attacking zombies. Probably the best of the current, although not outright, post apocalyptic movies on Hulu. A

People hide in a house from carnivorous walking corpses revived by radiation fallout.
Night of the Living Dead1990 - Horror and Suspense

The 1990 remake also written and directed by Romero. This remake was very well done with great zombie makeup and thankfully no more annoying screaming from Barbara. Although I enjoyed this one very much I still prefer the original. I feel like the original has a atmosphere that this one with full color and well done effects lacks. A-

It's a new night for terror - and a new dawn in horror movie-making when special-effects genius TomSavini (creator of the spectacularly gruesome make-up in FRIDAY THE 13TH and CREEPSHOW) brings modern technology to this colorful remake of George A. Romero's 1968 cult classic. Seven strangers are trapped in an isolated farmhouse while cannibalistic zombies - awakened from death by the return of aradioactive space probe - wage a relentless attack, killing (and eating) everyone in their path. The classic for the 90s: graphic, gruesome and more terrifying than ever!
Prototype X29A 1992 - Action and Adventure

It is hard to beat early 90's sci-fi, ok maybe 80's sci-fi, especially when it is painfully obvious that they blew the entire movie budget on one effect/prop. The one great thing about this movie is the prototype suit, it looks really good, but the rest of the movie is awful. Like Godkiller I am not really sure of what was going on. Maybe I should have paid more attention while watching it. C

Part man, part machine and all killer. Mankind doesn't stand a chance. Los Angeles--2057--a lawless, war-torn terrain where a beautiful young woman, Chandra, and her ex-lover, a crippled soldier, Hawkins, share vivid psychosexual dreams. When a brilliant research scientist experiments on Hawkins, he becomes Prototype, a half-man, half-machine robot. The experiment goes out of control and Prototype goes hunting for Chandra, whom he is programmed to kill. In an explosive climax, the ultimate battle commences that will determine whether mankind or machines will survive.
The Quick and the Undead 2006 - Horror and Suspense

The Quick and the Boring. This movie is slow and every scene is shot as an intense situation, meanwhile characters drop like flies and nothing is ever made concrete. This movie could have used more of the bounty hunting angle. D

Eighty-five years ago, a viral outbreak turned three-quarters of the population into the walking dead. Now a lone bounty hunter is on the hunt in this lawless land where the severed fingers of every flesh-eating zombie are worth their weight in gold.
Solarbabies 1986 - Science Fiction

The worst part of this movie in my opinion is the name. It is kind of a kids movie but I enjoyed the setting and I really like the tire dump location. B

This futuristic tale features the top talents of Hollywood's new generation including Jami Gertz, Lukas Haas and Jason Patric as prisoners in a fortress who plan their dazzling escape on wheels.
Steel Dawn 1987 - Action and Adventure

If you have seen Mad Max Road Warrior you know the entire plot of this movie. But unlike Mad Max that has great effects and props this is very low budget and rushed. My biggest problem with this movie is that the 'bad' people in this movie neither act badly or look bad. In Max Max when they roll up to the oil refinery you know they mean trouble but the villians in this movie just push some people around. This movie also gets the reward for the shortest turn around for a character going from double crossing the protagonist to regretting his action. C

After World War III, water becomes a precious commodity in the desert community of Meridian. So much so, in fact, that when a controlling mob, led by the evil Damnil (Anthony Zerbe), takes over the town's supply, the good people fight back by hiring Nomad (Patrick Swayze), a peacekeeping warrior. Nomad is the only person who can put an end to the greed in this modern interpretation of the Western classic Shane.
Also check out Atomic Cafe. It is a great documentary on the 50s atomic scare and bomb testing.
